Yielding to Emergency Vehicles

When you're approaching a roundabout and see that an emergency vehicle is approaching or is already in the roundabout, do not enter until the emergency vehicle has exited.

If you are in the roundabout and an emergency vehicle enters, your priority is to clear the roundabout, much like you would at any other intersection. Do not stop in the roundabout.

  • Do not stop in the roundabout because the emergency vehicle may not be able to safely pass.
  • Safely move over into the furthest right lane and exit the first chance you get.
  • After you exit the roundabout, move to the right and stop so emergency vehicles can safely pass.
